What started off as a normal week quickly turned to unbelievable destruction and then inspiring humanity.
Last week, my hometown, the city where I was born and have lived my whole life, was hit with an unbelievable force of nature, where floods forced over 100,000 people to evacuate their homes. While my street was left unscathed, and my home is dry, thousands of others were not. Yet despite the flooding, and the fear and anxiety I witnessed first hand around me, I am truly humbled by the amazing acts of kindness, community and strength that has taken over this city. From my son emptying his piggy bank to ‘buy a new house‘ for those left homeless, to complete strangers pitching in to help clean streets and basements, I am left feeling very blessed.
